太平洋戰爭前夕，日本人木村來到台灣鼓吹社會主義；玻璃製作工人阿義和女子阿貞結了婚。某天半夜，阿貞發現廚房的牆裡藏了一個男人，正驚恐不已時，阿義突然激動的抓住阿貞說著：牆裡的是我的老師、我的神！某日，政府特務將阿義帶走，處在絕境中的阿貞，將「神」放出來。沒想到「神」卻變成「野獸」且爬到了阿貞的身上…

It is the time when the Pacific War is about to break out and the Socialism is very repressed in Taiwan. A-zhen, a young country girl, just gets married and somehow feels that there is something weird in her house. Soon she finds someone hidden behind the wall - a Japanese man whom her husband respects as his master.

達悟青年湄巴納的戀人希伽安選擇在台灣發展；湄巴納則與錄音師阿飛回到故鄉採集大自然的聲音，湄巴納與希伽安的戀情因距離逐漸褪色殆盡。決心留在島上生活的湄巴納，夢想與其他年輕人不同，他選擇留在這個屬於海洋、飛魚、達悟人的家鄉 ─「人之島」。湄巴納留在蘭嶼島與美術老師安安一起築夢，同時兩人的愛情也悄然萌芽。

After having lived in the crowded Taipei for a while, Meibana returs to his hometown Lanyu to collect the sound of Nature for his work. He meets a young city girl Anan who escaped from Taipei to seek peace in mind. Away from the bustle of Taipei, Meibanan gradually realizes the path that he must take up.

This is a rhapsody of Gods, men, and dogs down and out together. A meandering truck full of gods gets mixed up with a cast of outcasts whose lives gradually entwine with each other. Yellow Bull, Biung and Ching, each has his/her own life to deal with, until a fatal car accident tides them together...
